In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for February 2011, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions in the month of February, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State had 2,745 total foreclosures, a decrease of 15.2 percent from February 2010 and a decrease of 4.85 percent from January.New York State ranked number 44 of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings with one in every 2,921 properties receiving a foreclosure filing in February.
Foreclosure filings were reported nationally on 225,101 U.S. properties in February, a decrease of 13.86 percent from January and a decrease of 27.04 percent from year-ago totals. Nationally, one in every 577 properties received a foreclosure filing.
This is very good news for WNY homeowner but not so good for investors who are looking to make a quick buck on foreclosure properties.
